A Letter from the Executive Director

Dear Theatre Teacher,

My name is Mark Saltalamachia. I am the theatre teacher at Franklin H.S. And I am excited to be serving as your Executive Director of Tennessee for the EdTA. This year our Conference coordinators include Lisa Moody (Brentwood H.S.), Michelle Tripp (Page H.S.), Rebecca T. Williams (Independence H.S.), and Paula Flautt (CPA).

On this page you will find your link to the Tennessee Thespian Conference. Registration this year will be done completely online. You and your students can access our new page by simply going to tnthescon.com. We are excited to invite you to a thrilling weekend of Thespian events on the Beautiful campus of MTSU in Murfreesboro! We look forward to seeing you all there. Here are some of the highlights of how your Thespians and delegates may choose to participate:

  • Over 150 workshops will be offered during the conference weekend along with two main stage plays and numerous one-acts.
  • Students have the opportunity to apply for one of the three different scholarships this year: The Tully Daniel Memorial Acting Scholarship, the Mark Collins Memorial Tech/Theatre Management Scholarship, or the Robert E. Crain Musical Theatre Scholarship. Each scholarship is worth $1,000.
  • Students will again have the opportunity to audition for a number of colleges and universities who choose to attend the conference weekend. Specific colleges/universities will be posted at a later date. Each student who wishes to participate must send a $10 check make payable to the Tennessee Educational Theatre Association. This check should be sent from the individual student who is participating, NOT the school. Please include each student’s check and application with your registration fees. We look forward to receiving your high school full-length and one-act play submissions and encourage all students to take part in solo and duet performance opportunities.

Click here for the silent auction form. Please ask your troupe to collect as many quality gifts as possible for us to auction during the weekend. The money raised allows us to provide for future scholarships. Great auction items include posters, signed memorabilia, gift baskets, CD’s, and theatre-related items. Also remember, per requests made during last year’s sponsorship workshop, only those schools who donate items for the auction may have students audition for one of the three $1,000 conference scholarships.
